AbbVie Scientist II/ Senior Scientist I, Instrument in Lake County, Illinois
Conceive and implement novel experimental approaches to answer scientific questions. Investigate, identify, develop, and optimize new methods and techniques. Contribute to project science in area of expertise. Develop productive collaborations and communications with other groups across science disciplines.
Key Responsibilities Include: * Primarily responsible for designing, performing, and analyzing biological experiments involving molecular biology, protein biochemistry, cell culture, protein characterization, and in-vitro assays in support of the development of novel biological laboratory instruments. * Must act as bridge between engineering team and client biology laboratories. * Will work under the guidance of a lead engineer, but be expected to secure access to resources from the broader Discovery organization.
Position will be hired based on level of experience:
Basic: * PhD, MS, or BS in biomedical engineering or closely related field with 0 years (PhD); 5-8 years (MS); or 7-10 years (BS) of industry or postdoc experience. * Hands-on research experience in tissue engineering, molecular biology, protein biochemistry, cell culture, protein characterization, and in-vitro assays highly desirable.
