The role of Solutions Architect will be part of the R&D Information Research team focused on resolving business technology challenges for the Regulatory Affairs, RD Quality Assusance, and Pharmacovigilance and Patient Safety organization. As a strategic consultant, this role will utilize a thorough understanding of available technologies, tools and existing designs to work with the business to design innovative architectural approaches.

The Solutions Architect must demonstrate strong customer focus and business relationship skills that allow him/her to effectively represent RQS IR while creating positive interactions across the organization to drive discussions and design the best technology decisions. In addition, this role requires hands-on technical design experience, architecture skills, technical expertise, and excellent communication skills.

This role will own the technical engagement with various partners and technical specialists across functional disciplines in order to ensure the success of programs and projects. This requires a strong background and understanding of the software lifecycle models in order to be able to think structurally about business, product, and technical challenges while overseeing and providing guidance to implementation teams.

Responsibilities * Provides architectural consulting and technical leadership in identifying and implementing new uses of information technologies, which assist business units in meeting their strategic objectives. * Ability to create architecture and design recommendations to address business problems while leading working sessions with multiple stakeholders who may have conflicting requirements. * Build and maintain strong partnerships with business users, business leaders, Business Relationship Managers (BRMs) and Portfolio Managers to define strategies that maximizes business value * Partner with the enterprise architecture team to ensure solutions align with the overall direction for Business Technology Solution (BTS) * Act as the enterprise representative when working with the business to ensure long term use solutions are identified * Partners with the delivery operations team to ensure the final solution provides the results required to address the need of the business * Investigate new and emerging technologies; perform feasibility studies; design and implement prototypes for early / usability testing and participate in technology forums and collaborations * Contribute innovative ideas and perspectives to develop new technologies, solutions and platforms by understanding the business processes and challenges that impact our business partners. * Drive continuous improvement of the RQS IT Landscape towards optimizing technology investments. * Contribute to the business case development for proposed projects. * Understand current regulations and keep up to date with these changes towards driving effective IT solutions and strategy for IT solutions. * Create documentation and visual representation of the end-to-end solution architecture for IT solutions. * Contribute to business strategy and technology roadmaps and drive Phase Zero initiatives from a technology and solution perspective. * Acts as expert technical resource to development staff in all phases of the development and implementation process.

Qualifications:
* Bachelor degree in Computer Science with at least eight or more years of solid, diverse work experience in IT with a minimum of six years’ experience application program development, or its equivalent in education and work experience (total combined experience 8-¬10 years). * Requires in-depth knowledge of the systems development life cycle, client area’s functions and systems, and systems application program development technological alternatives. * Must be competent to work at the highest level of all phases of application program/system design and implementation. * Requires strong verbal and written communications skills, analytical ability, judgment, as well as the ability to work effectively at all levels with both internal and external organizations. Preferred Qualifications * Working knowledge of software development practices and technologies * A broad knowledge of regulations that will impact our business partners (e.g. IDMP, E2B R3) and an industry perspective. * Broad technology experience with ability to lead assessments of proposed solutions and develop recommendations is required.
