The Global Commercial Development (GCD) organization leads the development of strategic Commercial direction for assets in AbbVie’s pipeline. We have an exciting opportunity for a Director, Oncology to support our rapidly growing early-stage oncology pipeline.

This position will be responsible for providing commercial input and helping to shape the overall strategies for multiple early-stage oncology compounds in development. Depending on the stage of the various assets, the Director, Oncology may also be responsible for leading a Global Commercial Team. The Director, Oncology may also be responsible for various oncology ‘franchise’ projects, requiring frequent interactions with key constituents located at AbbVie headquarters.

To accomplish these objectives, the Director, Oncology will work with a variety of key functions and stakeholders including: Translational Research, Clinical Development, Regulatory Affairs, Market Research, Market Access, HEOR, Forecasting, Finance, Regional and Affiliate Marketing, Medical Affairs, Licensing and Acquisitions and Business Development.

This position will report to the Director, Early Oncology, GCD (based in Redwood City, CA Location).

Key responsibilities include: * Serve as Commercial lead for multiple Early Oncology programs involving various solid and hematologic malignancies and inform the overall strategies for these assets * Partner with commercial functions at headquarters to lead market analyses and to influence development strategy, drive indication prioritization and understand revenue potential * Lead aspects of the Pipeline Commercial Excellence deliverables, including defining the business opportunity, value drivers, early differentiation platform and Target Product Profile (TPP) * Partner with Global Marketing and asset teams to develop scientific platform and drive data generation to satisfy global requirements for target product label and target product claims * Initiate geo-strategy for the asset in partnership with asset teams, Global Marketing, Areas and Affiliates in order to ensure a best-in-class global launch * Drive prioritization of key leverage points in the treatment process and develop behavioral objectives for each stakeholder group in order to define commercial strategy for the asset * For multiple markets, develop a deep understanding of evolving competitive landscape; identify, analyze, and translate relevant competitor clinical data and other competitive intelligence to inform AbbVie asset strategies * Make recommendations on market research objectives and designs to inform projects and strategies. Interprets research findings and draws appropriate insights based on results * Conduct portfolio-level analyses to inform tumor-specific strategies where multiple AbbVie assets are involved

Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications: * 10 years of total industry experience required * 5 years in pharmaceutical marketing and/or pipeline commercial strategy required * 5 years of oncology/hematology required Preferred Qualifications: * MBA is preferred * Advanced science degree preferred * Deep scientific and clinical understanding of various Oncology/Hematology markets preferred * Strong analytical and strategic marketing skills * Global commercial experience a strong plus
