The Grant Manager is responsible for executing healthcare related grant and charitable donation plans within the United States, Puerto Rico and globally. The Grant Manager exhibits a strong knowledge of grant making best practices, educational gaps in assigned therapeutic areas and participates in strategy development with Senior Managers. Additionally, the Grant Manager will lead cross-departmental projects designed to improve the effectiveness, efficiency or compliance of grant strategy execution.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Conduct and evaluating needs assessments, determiningclinical/education gaps, determining learning objectives, completingcompliance evaluations, managing grant spending against budget, andbuilding and evaluating outcomes measurement reports.

  • Assist in the development and implementation of grantand donation strategic plans.

  • Review Medical Education (ME) and Non-Medical Education(NME) grants and Charitable Donations (CD). Ensure that requests alignwith applicable strategy, clinical and scientific principles and policy,laws/regulations, outcome measurements, adult learning principles andother relevant criteria.

  • Analyze financial reports (e.g. budget, Plan, LBE), andactivity outcomes and impacts.

  • Attend supported programs to audit, monitor, or assesseducational value on a periodic basis.

  • Demonstrate in depth knowledge of all systems used inthe grant management process, and contribute to systemupdates/upgrades.

  • Keep abreast of best practices in grant processing andcontinually improve the quality and efficiency of grant review andapproval.

  • Abide by internal policies and procedures as well asexternal and local guidelines to ensure compliance with local laws andregulations.

  • Demonstrate subject matter expertise through developmentand maintenance of departmental policies, procedures, training material,work instructions, audit documents, checklists, etc. Develop and delivertraining to colleagues in related to grant review policies and bestpractices.

  • Interact with requestors while demonstrating strongcustomer service during grant submission assessment and approval ordenial. Proactively resolve issues that arise throughout process.

  • Actively contribute to department mission by sharingrecommendations/solutions for key business issues, and serve as keyresource for interpretation of policies, procedures, and strategic grantand donation plans.

  • Develop and maintain an effective network ofrelationships across internal and external customers and functionalsupport teams.

  • Manages assigned projects and ensures timely completionof deliverables as per plan.

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, and effectivelymanage conflict and competing priorities.

  • Demonstrate the ability to prioritize and multitask toenhance productivity and manage workload in an appropriate manner.

  • Seek to achieve Certification of CME Professional(CCMEP) by completing a minimum of three qualifying points per year andpassing exam once meeting minimum exam requirements.

  • Reports to the Senior Manager, Global Grants andCharitable Donations.

  • Provides project leadership across department.

  • Supervises tasks performed by Grant Analysts.



  • Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science required.

  • 4 years of health care experience working in medicaleducation, grants, medical affairs, legal and/or compliancedepartments.

  • Attention to detail and ability to critically andstrategically evaluate submitted grants.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills,demonstrated creative problem solving skills to maximize productivity andresolve complex issues.

  • Manage multi-faceted projects, while working in a crossfunctional environment and demonstrating a positive professional presence.

  • Health Care Professional or Master’s degree.

  • Understanding of adult learning principles.

  • Certification of CME Professional (CCMEP).

  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical industry, MedicalEducation, applicable regulations, and health care/medical terms.
