General Position Summary/Purpose:

The Head of IT is a key senior management position that supports PCYC aggressive growth plans by providing technical business solutions to the R&D, commercial and back office organizations.

Candidate understands deeply the organizational roadmap and drives related business application solutions forward with the teams, leveraging the local team, the managed service partners as well as the corporate enterprise functions. By implementing appropriate compliance, security & technology measures, candidate ensures protection of PCYC’s IP assets and provides a top collaboration platform for both internal and external teams. Candidate ensures alignment with AbbVie’s enterprise IT functions and actively participates in their strategic direction discussions.

The role reports to the Head of Finance & Infrastructure at PCYC with a strong connection to AbbVie’s CIO.

The candidate shall have a successful track record in both small Biopharma and big Pharma corporations The position requires “hands on,” hard working and dedicated individual with experience and ability to define, design and implement all required systems to fully support the organizational mission.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Works to understand and align PCYC’s vision and the required system solutions, including enterprise architecture, solutions architecture and business application systems projects.

  • Define functional requirements and establish strategic direction, goals, and action plans for PCYC IT function to meet and exceed functional requirements

  • Ensures strategic alignment with corporate enterprise functions, influences their strategic direction by being a member of AbbVie’s CIO staff.

  • Combines this enterprise leadership role with a local leadership role ensuring PCYC’s business requirements are met

  • Define performance metrics based on business objectives

  • Evaluate technology build versus buy decisions

  • Establish and foster relationships with the Business Stakeholders and managed service partners

  • Application development; new and existing for division and overall coordination for divisional initiatives and requirements.

  • Works to continuously improve effectiveness, efficiency and customer satisfaction (internal and external customers)

  • Guide and assist in documentation of IT policy requirements

  • Integrate design and evaluate systems relative to CFR 21 Part 11, HIPPA, SOX, GxP and all other applicable laws & regulations

  • Participate in strategic and operational governance processes of the business organization as a member of the senior management team.

  • Lead IT strategic and operational planning to achieve business goals by fostering innovation, prioritizing IT initiatives, and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future IT systems and organizational resources.

  • Ensures an enterprise-wide disaster recovery and business continuity for all IT infrastructure, data and systems.

  • Champions data as a very important strategic business asset to support the company’s growth mission both for in market and pipeline assets to make a remarkable impact for patients.

  • Develop, track, and control the information technology annual operating and capital budgets.

  • Keep current with trends and issues in the IT industry, including current technologies and prices. Advise, counsel, and educate executives and management on their competitive or financial impact.

  • Approve, prioritize, and control projects and the project portfolio as they relate to the selection, acquisition, development, and installation of major information systems.

Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of relevant industry experience, including 10+ years in a leadership role.

  • Strongly preferred Biopharmaceutical company experience in fast-growing, pre-launch, launch and post launch activities; commercial IT/data infrastructure build-out and support required.

  • Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent level of education and experience.

  • Successful track record of IT leadership, execution and delivery. Experience leading IT organizations in applying innovative IT solutions in support of the business.

  • Management experience in IT Infrastructure Operations and Support.

  • Proven experience in building out, training and leading an IT team; management experience with highly skilled IT individuals.

  • A thorough understanding of technologies required for corporate and cloud based networks.

  • Extensive experience with healthcare data systems and providers in both R&D and commercial environments.

Experience:

  • The individual must be a self-driven, motivated senior IT leader with strong analytical and problem solving skills, and leadership/good executive presence.

  • Must be capable of working autonomously, is a team player and possess the ability to interact and interface with all levels of management.

  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written); effective in interaction with executive management

  • Must be a self-starter and have excellent judgment and problem solving skills

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
